How to determine whether the rust inhibitor is compatible with KA107-103-YVP7.5KW gearbox gear oil in the anti rust scenario during operation

The key to determining whether the rust inhibitor is compatible with KA107-103-YVP7.5KW gearbox gear oil is whether they can work together without affecting lubrication and rust prevention effects. Here are a few key points that have been sorted out:

1、 Check if the base oil type matches

Mineral oil-based gear oil: suitable for using mineral oil-based rust inhibitors, with good compatibility and low cost.

Synthetic oil-based gear oil: Synthetic oil-based rust inhibitors such as poly (alpha olefin) (PAO) or esters should be selected to avoid delamination or performance degradation.

2、 Check if the additives conflict

Extreme pressure anti-wear agent: Sulfur and phosphorus additives are commonly used in gear oil, and rust inhibitors should preferably not contain strong alkaline substances, otherwise they may neutralize and fail.

Antioxidants: It is best for rust inhibitors to also contain antioxidant components, such as phenols or amines, which can extend the life of oil products.

Rust inhibitor: Gear oil itself contains rust inhibitors (such as sulfates), so be careful not to add them in excess to avoid affecting lubrication.

3、 Whether the physical and chemical properties meet the standards

Viscosity: The viscosity of rust inhibitor should be lower than that of gear oil. For example, if the gear oil is ISO VG 150, it is best to use rust inhibitor between ISO VG 68-100, otherwise it may be too thick or too thin.

Acid value: The recommended acid value for rust inhibitors is ≤ 0.5mgKOH/g, as too high a value can corrode the gears.

Moisture: The moisture content of the rust inhibitor should be ≤ 100ppm (mineral oil) or ≤ 50ppm (synthetic oil), otherwise it is prone to emulsification.

4、 Conduct compatibility experiments

Mixing test: Mix rust inhibitor and gear oil in a 1:10 ratio, shake well, and let it stand for 24 hours to see if there is layering, sedimentation, or discoloration.

Performance testing: Measure the viscosity, acid value, and moisture after mixing, compare with new oil, and ensure that the changes exceed ± 15%.

5、 Reference practical application cases

Automotive industry: GL-4/GL-5 gear oil is often combined with rust inhibitors containing zinc salt additives, which have good emulsion resistance and are suitable for humid environments.

Industrial field: L-CKC gear oil (medium load) is compatible with rust inhibitors containing sulfates, ensuring stable rust prevention and lubrication.
