How to choose the appropriate lubricating oil based on the working environment of WPS175-80-7.5KW worm gear reducer
When selecting lubricating oil suitable for the working environment of WPS175-80-7.5KW worm gear reducer, the following aspects need to be considered:
Working temperature:
Low temperature environment: If the working environment temperature is below 0 ℃, such as in winter outdoor or refrigerated places in the north, low viscosity lubricants such as VG68 or gear oils with "W" (winter) markings, such as SAE 80W-90, should be selected to ensure good fluidity at low temperatures and reduce wear during start-up.
High temperature environment: When the working environment temperature is above 40 ℃, such as in high-temperature workshops, furnaces, etc., high viscosity lubricating oil such as VG460-680 or synthetic oil should be selected because synthetic oil has stronger antioxidant properties and can maintain good lubrication performance at high temperatures to prevent oil film rupture.
Load and speed:

Light load high-speed: If the reducer is in a light load high-speed working state, such as some reducers on conveyor belts, VG100-220 viscosity grade lubricating oil can be selected and matched with GL-4 performance grade to reduce oil friction and heat generation.
Heavy load and low speed: For situations with heavy load and low speed, such as reducers in mining lifting equipment, it is recommended to use VG320-680 high viscosity lubricating oil with a performance level of GL-5 or choose worm gear special oil to form a high-strength oil film and prevent tooth surface wear and bonding.
Environmental humidity: If the working environment is relatively humid, such as by the sea, in damp basements, or in coal washing plants, it is necessary to choose gear oil with strong anti emulsification properties. This type of oil usually contains anti rust additives, which can prevent water from entering and causing oil emulsification, loss of lubrication performance, and also protect metal parts from corrosion.
Environmental cleanliness: In dusty environments such as construction sites, cement plants, etc., lubricating oil is easily contaminated. It is recommended to choose lubricating oil with good anti pollution ability. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen the filtration and regular replacement of lubricating oil to prevent impurities from entering the reducer and exacerbating component wear.
Equipment material: Due to the common use of copper alloy worm gears in worm gear reducers, the use of GL-5 gear oil containing sulfur and phosphorus additives should be avoided, as it may corrode copper alloy components. Instead, GL-4 or specialized worm gear oil can be used.
