How to check and maintain FAF37-B0.55-4P-47.02-M3-270 reducer to avoid high temperature problems

Regarding the FAF37-B0.55-4P-47.02-M3-270 gearbox, inspection and maintenance should revolve around the four core areas of "lubrication, heat dissipation, load, and component status" to effectively prevent high temperature issues.
1、 Core Inspection: Pre check for High Temperature Hazards
Regular inspections should cover the following key dimensions. It is recommended to conduct regular inspections once a week and in-depth inspections every three months.

Lubricating oil inspection

Oil level: After 15 minutes of shutdown, check the oil gauge or oil mirror to ensure that the oil level is between the "highest" and "lowest" marks. If the oil level is too low, it will cause insufficient lubrication and frictional heat generation.

Oil quality: Observe the color of the lubricating oil, which is normally transparent or light yellow; If there is blackening, turbidity, impurities, or a burnt smell, it should be replaced immediately to avoid lubrication failure.

Oil: Strictly use the lubricating oil specified in the instruction manual (such as CLP 220 or 320 extreme pressure industrial gear oil commonly used by SEW), and different types of oil cannot be mixed.

Cooling system inspection

Cooling fan/cooler: If the reducer is equipped with a forced cooling fan, check whether the fan is running normally and whether the fan blades are damaged or stuck; If equipped with a cooler, clean the dust and oil stains on the surface of the cooler to ensure smooth heat dissipation channels.

Environmental heat dissipation: Check if there are any obstructions around the reducer, ensure that at least 30cm of ventilation space is reserved around the equipment, and avoid high temperature environments (such as near heat sources or direct sunlight) that may hinder heat dissipation.

Load and operating status check

Running sound: After turning on, listen to the sound of the gearbox running, which is normally a uniform "buzzing" sound; If there is sharp abnormal noise or impact sound, it may be due to poor gear meshing or bearing wear, which will increase the load and generate additional heat.

Vibration situation: Touch the casing with your hand or use a vibration detector. If the vibration increases significantly, check whether the anchor bolts are loose and whether the coupling is aligned (coaxiality deviation should meet the requirements of the manual, generally ≤ 0.1mm). Excessive vibration will exacerbate friction and heat generation.

Key component inspection

Bearing: When touching the bearing end cover, the normal temperature should be 30 ℃ -40 ℃ higher than the ambient temperature. If it exceeds 50 ℃ (such as when the temperature of the bearing end cover exceeds 75 ℃ when the ambient temperature is 25 ℃), it may be due to insufficient lubrication or wear of the bearing, and it needs to be disassembled, inspected or replaced.

Sealing components: Check the sealing parts of the input shaft and output shaft. If there is lubricating oil leakage, it will cause the oil level to drop. At the same time, the leaked oil will adsorb dust, affecting heat dissipation. It is necessary to replace the sealing components (such as oil seals) in a timely manner
