Selection criteria for lubricating grease of single-stage hard-tooth surface ZDY series cylindrical gear reducers

The selection criteria for lubricating grease in cylindrical gear reducers mainly consider the following aspects:

1. Load pressure: Select based on the actual working load and pressure of the gear. For heavy-duty cylindrical gear reducers, lubricating grease with high base oil viscosity and thickening agent content should be selected. Lubricating grease containing extreme pressure additives or fillers (such as molybdenum disulfide or graphite) can also be selected; For gears with medium and low loads, lubricating grease with a short, medium viscosity base oil and soap fiber structure of No.2 viscosity is generally selected.

2. Temperature characteristics:

High temperature environment: If the gearbox operates in a high temperature environment, the lubricating grease needs to have high temperature resistance characteristics. It is necessary to choose lubricating grease with high drop point, good antioxidant performance, and low evaporation loss, such as composite lithium based grease, polyurea based grease, etc. Generally speaking, the maximum operating temperature should be 10-20 ℃ below the drip point (mineral oil-based grease) or 20-30 ℃ (synthetic grease).

Low temperature environment: In low temperature environments, lipids with good low-temperature fluidity, low starting torque, and similar low viscosity should be selected, such as synthetic oil-based lipids, in order to quickly reach various lubrication parts and exert their effects at low temperatures.

3. Speed:

High speed operation: For high-speed cylindrical gear reducers, in order to reduce viscous friction resistance and temperature rise, lubricating grease with high cone penetration made of low viscosity base oil should be selected.

Low speed operation: For low-speed gears, high cone penetration grade lubricating grease made from high viscosity base oil can be selected.

4. Work environment:

Damp environment: If the gearbox operates in a damp environment or may come into contact with water, it is necessary to choose lubricating grease with good water resistance and rust prevention performance, such as calcium based grease, composite calcium based grease, lithium based grease, etc.

High dust environment: In a high dust working environment, to prevent dust from entering the gear meshing area and exacerbating wear, lubricating grease with strong adhesion, low pollution, and good sealing performance should be selected. Lubricating grease with low penetration can be chosen.

Environment with chemical corrosion risk: When there are corrosive gases or media around, lubricating grease containing anti-corrosion additives should be used to protect the gear surface from corrosion.

5. Gear material: If it is a regular metal gear, lubricating grease that meets the requirements of load, temperature, etc. is sufficient; If it is a special material gear, such as a plastic gear, the compatibility between the lubricating grease and the material should also be considered to avoid problems such as corrosion or swelling. Lithium soap thickener, which is well compatible with most plastics, can be used to thicken the high viscosity synthetic oil, and lubricating grease with antioxidant, anti-corrosion and other additives can be added.

6. Performance of lubricating grease:

Extreme pressure and anti-wear performance: Gears bear significant pressure and friction during meshing, and lubricating grease must have good extreme pressure and anti-wear performance, forming a strong and tough oil film on the tooth surface, effectively reducing wear between gears, and preventing failure forms such as tooth surface adhesion and abrasion.
