How to properly maintain WPWKO100-60 worm gear reducer
WPWKO100-60 Worm Gear Reducer Maintenance Guide
1. Lubrication management
Oil change cycle: Lubricating oil needs to be replaced after the first 200 hours of operation, and then every 2000-4000 hours or annually thereafter. If the oil temperature exceeds 85 ℃ or the oil quality turns black, it should be replaced immediately.
Oil selection: It is recommended to use 220 # or 320 # extreme pressure worm gear oil (including anti adhesive additives), which can be upgraded to synthetic lubricating oil under heavy load conditions.
2. Daily inspection
Status monitoring: Check the operating status through "listening, touching, and looking". Abnormal noise, box temperature (exceeding 40 ℃ of ambient temperature) or oil leakage need to be dealt with immediately.
Key components: Regularly check the meshing clearance of the worm gear (standard 0.15~0.3mm), bearing temperature rise (≤ 70 ℃), and aging of the seals.

3. Regular maintenance
Minor repair (3-5 months): tighten bolts, adjust tooth clearance, and replenish lubricating grease.
Overhaul (6-12 months): Replace worn worm gears/worms, repair bearing seats, clean oil tanks, and replace housing mating surfaces.
4. Fault handling
Abnormal noise jamming: Prioritize investigating foreign object intrusion and installation deviation to avoid blind disassembly. If the worm gear is severely worn (clearance>0.5mm), it is necessary to replace the original matching worm gear pair.
Axial movement: When the axial clearance of the worm exceeds the tolerance, it can be restored by adjusting the gland gasket or replacing the bearing.
5. Precautions
Installation accuracy: Ensure that the perpendicularity between the worm and worm wheel axis is ≤ 0.02mm/100mm, and the center distance error is ≤ ± 0.05mm.
Environmental adaptation: High temperature scenarios require the use of high-temperature resistant lubricants (such as molybdenum disulfide dry film lubrication), while low-temperature environments require the use of low pour point oils.
