What is the range of noise variation of SCWS250-51 worm gear reducer when the load changes

SCWS250-51 belongs to the SCWS series shaft mounted circular cylindrical worm gear reducer, with a transmission ratio of 51 and a center distance of 250mm. There is no manufacturer's clear calibration value for the noise changes when the load changes. However, based on the structural characteristics of this series of reducers, the rules of similar equipment in the industry, and general standards, the following scope and corresponding characteristics can be summarized:

From no-load to rated load stage

During no-load operation, there is no output torque load, and the noise is mainly caused by slight meshing sound of the worm gear and worm wheel, as well as the sound of the shaft carrying and rotating. At this stage, the noise is usually between 60-65dB (A), similar to normal indoor conversation sound. As the load gradually increases to the rated load, the pressure on the meshing surface gradually increases, and the noise will slowly rise. At the rated load, the noise generally stabilizes at 70-80dB (A). At this stage, the noise changes gently, with an overall fluctuation range of about 10-15 dB (A), and the noise is mainly a smooth low-frequency roar without sharp noise.

Rated load to short-term overload stage

If the load exceeds the rated value but does not exceed 110% (short-term allowable range), the contact stress on the tooth surface will significantly increase, and the noise will further rise, possibly reaching a maximum of 80-85dB (A). At this stage, the noise increase compared to the rated load is about 5-10 dB (A). However, this load state is only suitable for short-term operation. If this operating condition persists for a long time, the noise will continue to be at a high level and may also be accompanied by increased box vibration. When the load exceeds the rated value by more than 15% (severe overload), the noise will soar sharply, possibly exceeding 85dB (A), and abnormal noises such as metal friction and impact will occur. This situation is not within the normal range of noise changes and can accelerate part wear.

In addition, the worm shaft speed of this series of reducers does not exceed 1500r/min. If the influence of speed is added during measurement, the "noise difference of load changes compared at the same speed" should be used as the standard; When measuring simultaneously, it is necessary to avoid environmental noise interference. It is recommended to measure with an A-weighted decibel meter at a distance of 1 meter from the shell and level with the axis to ensure accurate data.
