How to prevent wear of worm gear teeth in WPWO100-30-A reducer

Regarding the WPWO100-30-A worm gear reducer (where the worm gear is mostly made of copper alloy and the worm gear is made of steel), the prevention of tooth surface wear needs to revolve around the core of "lubrication protection, load control, installation accuracy, environmental protection, and regular maintenance". The following are 10 practical measures that can be directly implemented:
1. Choose suitable lubricating grease/oil: Priority should be given to using extreme pressure gear oil (viscosity grade 220 # or 320 #) specifically designed for worm gears. Copper worm gears should avoid using oil containing sulfur and phosphorus extreme pressure agents to prevent chemical corrosion from exacerbating wear.
2. Strictly control the lubrication status: replace the oil with new oil after the first 500 hours of operation, and replace the oil every 2000-3000 hours thereafter; Keep the oil level at the centerline of the oil window and replenish it promptly if it is insufficient to avoid dry friction.
3. Limited operating load range: It is strictly prohibited to exceed the rated load (WPWO100-30-A rated torque of about 450N · m), frequently start and stop, or overload impact. When starting, run without load for 3-5 minutes before loading.
4. Ensure installation coaxiality accuracy: The perpendicularity error between the worm and worm gear axis lines is ≤ 0.02mm, and the meshing clearance is controlled at 0.15-0.3mm to avoid excessive wear of local tooth surfaces caused by unbalanced loads.
5. Clean installation and environment: Before installation, remove iron filings and oil stains from the surface of the parts. The operating environment of the equipment should be dust-proof, moisture-proof, and prevent impurities from entering. Regularly clean the gearbox housing and surrounding debris.
6. Avoid frequent forward and reverse rotation: Reduce repeated reversing operations in a short period of time, with an interval of ≥ 3 seconds between each reversal, to reduce tooth surface impact wear and contact fatigue.
7. Control operating temperature: Normal operating temperature ≤ 80 ℃. If it exceeds 90 ℃, check the oil quality and heat dissipation, and install cooling devices if necessary.
8. Regularly check the meshing status: stop the machine every 1000 hours to observe the tooth surface. If there are slight pitting or scratches, clean and check the oil quality in a timely manner; If the wear is severe, it is necessary to investigate installation or load issues and replace accessories.
9. Optimize the starting and braking methods: avoid hard starting with load, and start smoothly through a frequency converter or soft starter; Avoid sudden stops during braking and reduce the impact load on the tooth surface.
10. Storage and Idle Protection: When the equipment is idle for a long time, it needs to be filled with new oil and the worm should be rotated regularly (once a month, 10 turns each time) to prevent rusting of the tooth surface or lubrication failure.
