How to determine the optimal lubricating oil amount for WPA120-15-B worm gear reducer

The method for determining the optimal amount of lubricating oil for WPA120-15-B worm gear reducer is as follows:

Reference equipment manual: Refer to the user manual or technical documentation provided by the gearbox manufacturer, which will clearly indicate the recommended oil level range or specific oil quantity for this model of gearbox.

According to the oil level marking: If the gearbox has an oil window or oil level gauge, the oil level should be kept between the highest oil level line (MAX) and the lowest oil level line (MIN). Generally speaking, for worm gear reducers, when the worm gear is located below, the oil level needs to cover the entire tooth height of the worm gear; When the worm gear is located on the side or above, it is determined according to the specific model requirements, usually about one-third of the outer diameter of the worm gear.

Considering working conditions: If the gearbox operates in a high-temperature environment or under high load and high-speed operating conditions, it may be necessary to increase the oil volume appropriately to compensate for evaporation losses, strengthen heat dissipation, and maintain oil film strength. For example, for every 5 ℃ increase in ambient temperature, the oil content can increase by 3% -5%; When the load rate exceeds 80% of the rated power, the oil volume can increase by 5% -8%.

Using calculation method: For situations where there is no clear oil quantity indication, a rough estimate can be made using the formula V=A × B × C, where V is the oil quantity (liters), A is the volume coefficient of the internal space of the gearbox, B is the proportional coefficient of the gear contact area, and C is the safety factor. However, this method is more complex and in most cases, manufacturers have already provided recommended values, so it is less commonly used.

Conduct actual testing and adjustment: After the initial refueling, observe and adjust according to the actual operating conditions. Monitor the temperature and level changes of the oil, as well as whether there are any leaks or other issues. If necessary, increase or decrease the oil level appropriately until the optimal oil level is found. You can first inject a certain proportion (such as 50% -60%) of the estimated amount, run for 15-30 minutes, then stop the machine to check the oil level and replenish it to around 80%. After running again for 1-2 hours, finally adjust it to the standard oil level mark.
