How to ensure the integrity of the keyway at the shaft end when installing ZSY355-31.5-8 reducer

When installing the ZSY355 reducer, the shaft end keyway can be ensured to be intact by the following methods:

PRE-INSTALLATION CHECK

Cleaning the keyway: Before installation, a clean cloth or specialized cleaning agent should be used to thoroughly remove impurities such as oil stains, iron filings, burrs, and rust from the keyway of the shaft end keyway and its mating parts (such as couplings, gears, etc.), to prevent these impurities from entering the keyway during installation and causing keyway wear or damage.

Check dimensional accuracy: Use measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers to carefully measure the width, depth, length, and other dimensions of the shaft end keyway to ensure that it meets design requirements and relevant standards. At the same time, check whether the shape of the keyway is regular and whether there are defects such as deformation and cracks. If the keyway size exceeds the tolerance or has defects, the shaft should be repaired or replaced in a timely manner.

Check the mating parts: Carefully inspect the keyway and aperture dimensions of the coupling, gear, and other parts connected to the reducer shaft end to ensure that their mating accuracy with the shaft end keyway meets the requirements and avoid damage to the keyway due to tight or loose mating.

Precautions during installation process

Avoid hammering: It is strictly prohibited to directly strike the shaft end or key with tools such as hammers to avoid excessive impact force, which may cause deformation, cracking, or damage to the keyway or shaft end. To insert the key into the keyway, gently tap it with a copper rod or other soft tool, or press fit it. When installing components such as couplings and gears, appropriate assembly fixtures and processes should also be used, such as using internal threads on the shaft end to evenly press the transmission parts in through bolts, avoiding uneven squeezing force on the keyway.

Ensure concentricity: During installation, ensure that the output shaft of the reducer is aligned with the shaft of the driven part, which can be achieved by using measuring tools such as a dial gauge for inspection and adjustment. Inconsistencies can cause additional bending moments and shear forces on the keyway, accelerating its wear and damage. At the same time, it is also necessary to ensure that the keyway of the motor shaft is perpendicular to the locking screw of the input end hole of the reducer to ensure even force distribution.

Correct installation of keys: Select the appropriate key, whose size should accurately match the keyway. Place the key smoothly into the keyway, ensuring that the key is tightly attached to the bottom and side of the keyway without any gaps or looseness. If the fit between the key and the keyway is too loose, keyway repair technology or replacing the appropriate key can be considered to ensure the reliability of the transmission and prevent the key from moving inside the keyway and damaging it.
