How to determine whether the cycloidal gear of the cycloidal pinwheel reducer needs to be replaced
To determine whether the cycloidal gear of the cycloidal pinwheel reducer needs to be replaced, four key signals should be considered: wear and deformation, abnormal operation, failure marks, and meeting the service life standards. If any key problem occurs, it needs to be replaced.
1. Visual inspection: wear and deformation
The tooth surface shows obvious pitting, peeling, angular collapse, or uniform wear with tooth thickness exceeding the design value (usually ≥ 0.3mm).
The end face of the cycloidal gear is warped, the outer edge is deformed, or the clearance between the inner hole and the output shaft is too large (with obvious shaking).

There are cracks on the surface (which can be detected by dye penetrant testing), and even small cracks should be monitored to avoid fracture failure.
2. Running status: abnormal performance
The noise suddenly increases during the operation of the gearbox (such as piercing noises, knocking sounds), or the vibration amplitude significantly increases.
The output torque decreases, the carrying capacity weakens, resulting in stuck driving, difficulty stopping, or lagging during startup.
The oil temperature rises abnormally, and even after ruling out cooling system issues, it continues to exceed the normal operating temperature (usually ≥ 90 ℃).
3. Failure to associate with matching parts
The needle pin and needle sleeve are severely worn (with excessive clearance), and the root cause is poor meshing of the cycloidal gear teeth.
The oil leakage of the output shaft oil seal has intensified, and the eccentric operation of the cycloidal gear has damaged the sealing fit accuracy.
4. Lifespan and operating conditions: Prediction of expiration
According to the operating conditions, the cumulative operating time reaches the design life (about 10000 hours under light load and about 6000 hours under heavy load).
Long term work in overloaded, frequent start stop, and high-temperature environments without timely maintenance and lubrication requires early inspection and replacement.
