How to use L-CKE/P series special CWU280-60-II worm gear oil correctly
1、 Selection and Characteristics of Lubricating Oil
L-CKE/P series worm gear oil is specially designed for heavy-duty worm gear transmission with steel copper matching. It contains extreme pressure and anti-wear additives (such as sulfur and phosphorus compounds), which can effectively reduce the friction coefficient and prevent tooth surface bonding. The viscosity grade needs to be selected according to the working conditions:
Low speed overload (n<100r/min): Recommended ISO VG 320 or 460 (such as L-CKE/P 320/460);
High speed light load (n>1000r/min): optional ISO VG 220 or 150.
2、 Oil level and filling method
Oil level control: The oil should submerge the worm gear root (but not exceed the worm axis) to ensure sufficient lubrication in the meshing area.
Oil injection volume: The oil injection volume of CWU280-60-II reducer is about 1.2-1.8L (depending on the centerline of the oil window).
First oil injection: It is recommended to run at low speed for 30 minutes without load to break in the tooth surface, and then replenish the oil.
3、 Oil quality monitoring and oil change cycle
Inspection frequency: Observe the oil color monthly (normally amber). If it turns black, contains copper shavings, or has a burnt smell, change the oil immediately.
Oil change cycle:
Normal operating conditions: 6-12 months;
High temperature/dust environment: shortened to 3 months

Oil change operation: Thoroughly clean the oil sludge in the box to avoid residual impurities
4、 Temperature and load management
Operating temperature: The oil temperature should be ≤ 80 ℃ (exceeding 90 ℃ can cause oil film rupture), and heat sinks or cooling coils should be installed in high-temperature environments.
Load limit: Long term load shall not exceed 90% of the rated value, instantaneous load shall be ≤ 120% and the duration shall be less than 5 minutes.
5、 Precautions
Sealing: Regularly check the worm end oil seal to prevent oil leakage (recommended to use double lip fluororubber oil seal).
Compatibility: Avoid mixing with other types of lubricants to prevent additive failure.
VI. Summary
The core logic for correctly using L-CKE/P series oil is "selecting and adapting to heavy loads, filling to ensure cleanliness, and maintaining and monitoring oil quality": for CWU280-60-II, L-CKE 460 (normal temperature medium load) or L-CKE/P 680 (high temperature heavy load) is preferred, and the oil level is strictly controlled to be 10-15mm below the worm axis. The oil change cycle is adjusted according to the working conditions (3000-8000 hours), while avoiding incorrect operations such as mixed oil and oil shortage operation. Through standardized management, the wear rate of the gear teeth of the reducer can be reduced by more than 75%, ensuring long-term stability of Class II transmission accuracy and extending the service life to 15000-20000 hours (improper lubrication can shorten the service life to less than 5000 hours).
